Board Certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism  After 25 years as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama Medical School, in 2005 Dr. Bell retired and opened Southside Endocrinology.   Southside Endocrinology is a consultation only private practice so that patients are required to have a Primary Care Physician and be referred by a physician to be accepted.  Although Southside Endocrinology's original location was on the Southside of Birmingham, in 2012 we relocated to Mountain Brook and in December 2015 we moved just down the road to Irondale.
